FROM POLK COUNTY

Kevin was born in 1960 in Des Moines, Iowa, to Will and Tina Schneider. Growing up in Polk County, Kevin developed a strong work ethic at a very early age. His entrepreneurial-spirit motivated him to own an auto repair and service franchise before deciding that his true calling was public service in law enforcement.

A SUCCESSFUL CAREER

Kevin Schneider has serviced in law enforcement since 1981. He was appointed Sheriff for Polk County in 2018 and elected in 2020. He has extensive knowledge and experience within every division of the Sheriff's Office.  He is a graduate of the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy with several specialized classes in the field of law enforcement, including the 5-Star Leadership Program.  He earned a degree in criminal justice, is a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, and a graduate of the Iowa Certified Public Managers Program from the State of Iowa and Drake University. Sheriff Schneider volunteers for several community organizations.

COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER

When he is not protecting Polk County residents, Kevin is committed to helping others through generous and caring organizations such as the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Wreaths Across America, NAACP, Special Olympics, Animal Rescue League, and the Iowa State Sheriff's and Deputies Association, to name a few.  For relaxation, Kevin enjoys a game of golf, boating, watching Sprint car racing, and Iowa football games.
